I first bought a template with 0.7 mm lines. I am extremely satisfied with it because it makes my job a lot easier. I would recommend a template with 0.7 mm lines not only for practice.
I also had to buy a second template with a line width of 0.5 mm, which I use a lot for writing letters and postal envelopes.
